Terms of use

Last updated 26 October 2026

These terms cover your use of CaddyCompass. By using the site or creating an account you agree to them. They're written to be read, so please do. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy and the cookie policy.

What CaddyCompass is

A free directory of UK golf courses, with scorecards, green fees and a difficulty rating for each, and a board where golfers post rounds and find people to play with. We don't run any golf club and we don't take bookings or payments: you book and pay the club directly.

Course information

Course facts come from a third-party golf dataset and from clubs' own websites. Green fees, layouts, facilities and opening times change, so check with the club before you travel. Difficulty ratings are our estimate from published course data (how we rate difficulty), not a guarantee of how a course will play for you. Reviews are the opinions of the golfers who wrote them, not ours.

Course photos come from clubs' own websites and from golfers. If you're a club and would like a photo removed or replaced, or you think anything on the site infringes your rights, contact us and we'll act on it promptly.

Your account

You need to be 18 or over to create an account. Use your own name, keep your details accurate, and have one account per person.

You sign in with a link sent to your email, so keep that inbox secure: anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You're responsible for what's done through your account, so tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it. You can delete your account at any time from your account page.

Posting rounds and meeting other golfers

Rounds are arranged between golfers. We aren't a party to those arrangements, we don't check who people are or verify handicaps, and we can't vouch for the people you meet. Use the same sense you would anywhere else: meet at the club, let someone know where you're going, and only share what you're comfortable sharing. Green fees and any other costs are between you, your playing partners and the club.

Your phone number is shown only to golfers whose request you accept, and to the host of a round once they accept yours. Use another golfer's number only to arrange the round you're playing together.

What you post

Reviews, photos, rounds, requests and anything else you add must be your own, honest and lawful. In particular:

You keep ownership of what you post and give us a free, non-exclusive permission to store, resize and show it on CaddyCompass for as long as it's on the site. Deleting your account removes your posts, requests, reviews and scorecards, but photos stay on course pages without your name, so delete any you want removed first.

We may remove content, or suspend or close accounts, that break these terms. To report something, use the contact page.

Using the site fairly

Don't misuse CaddyCompass: no scraping or bulk copying of the course directory, no automated accounts or posts, no attempts to break or get around our security, and no pretending to be someone else.

Our responsibility

CaddyCompass is free and for personal use. We work to keep it accurate and available, but it's provided as it is, without guarantees, and features may change or be withdrawn. We aren't responsible for information clubs publish, what other golfers post, sites we link to, or what happens at rounds arranged through the site, and we aren't liable for business losses.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited under UK law, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and if a change matters we'll make it clear on the site. You can stop using CaddyCompass at any time. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in your local courts. Questions? Use the contact page.
